Birdsfoot Trefoil
This plant is a perennial legume. Some stands have survived as long as 30 years. It is excellent for beautification. Quail, dove, ducks, rabbits, deer and livestock eat the foliage and seed. It matures in 90 to 120 days. Plant 6 to 8 pounds per acre March to October.

Brassica
This is the family of "greens" known as turnips, rape, kale and swede. It may be planted in the spring when soil temperatures reach 50 degrees or planted in the fall when the weather begins to cool off. Plant at the rate of 2 to 5 pounds per acre. Fertilize with 200 to 225 pounds of ammonium nitrate (or equivalent) at seeding. Additional nitrogen may be applied to stimulate regrowth later in the season as needed.
Buckwheat
Buckwheat produces an abundance of seed in 70 to 80 days. It holds seed well on its stalk long after ripening. This plant does well in any type of soil: poor, fertile, peat, sand, clay or loam. It is good for quail, doves, turkey, ducks and deer. Plant 40 to 50 pounds per acre April to July.

Bundleflower, Illinois

It grows 3' to 4' tall and has about 64,000 seed per pound. It grows almost anywhere in the southwest, west and southeast. Plant 1.5 to 2 pounds per acre 1/4" to 3/4" deep April to August.
